Sonar’s Parental Policy: We aim to support each employee during the exciting time of growing their families! For our soon-to-be parents of Sonar, we offer fully paid time off so they can be home to care for and bond with their new child. For all new parents bringing a child into their home, whether through birth, adoption, or fostering, we provide up to 6 weeks of fully paid parental bonding time. Additionally, our new moms who are recovering from the birth of their child will receive an additional 8 weeks of fully paid physical recovery time. While on parental leave, our employees can expect 100% of pay, including an employee’s base and any applicable commission or bonus eligibility. In addition to paid parental leave, we also offer a unique benefit via a partnership with Moms on Call, an Atlanta-based company “supporting and equipping parents with trusted resources and practical guidance to navigate their child’s first four years with confidence, clarity, and better sleep.” By partnering with Moms on Call, we aim to provide our employees with additional resources and support as they navigate the new world of parenting and work-life balance. Each of our employees who are welcoming a child into their family will receive: a personal consultation with a certified MOC Consultant, three months of personal email support, the Basic Baby Care Book, lifetime access to Moms on Call’s 0-6 month online course + new Infant & Child CPR, Choking + First Aid course, and a swaddle blanket. This partnership with Moms On Call allows our new parents to have additional resources as they adjust to the first few months of being a new parent and sets them up for success when transitioning back into the workforce!
Periscope Award: The Periscope Award was created by our employees, we started this Sonar tradition a few years ago, and each month, an employee receives our revered Persicope Award. This award is given to an employee who has been nominated for going above and beyond the responsibilities of their job and embodying the Sonar Core Values: Optimize for Outcomes, Change is Constant, People Matter, and Team Over Self. Each honoree is asked to pay it forward by nominating next month's award recipient in addition to selecting a non-profit of their choice for Sonar to donate to. This award is a Sonar tradition that we hope to continue for many years to come!
Professional Development Program: We encourage our employees to take the time to continue to develop professionally. Our goal is to enable our employees to learn new skills, meet new people, and gain access to new ideas so that each employee can constantly grow within their role. We think it’s important to keep learning and growing individually, continue to get better at our craft, and progress in our careers! This is why we’ve developed a Professional Development Program (PDP) that provides an annual stipend that our employees can use for professional development. Whether it be taking an online course, reading a leadership book, getting a new certification, or going to a conference, we encourage our employees to take their professional development into their own hands and utilize their stipend to continue to grow!
Quarterly Meetups + Holiday Party: Each quarter, we celebrate the closing of the previous quarter and the start of a new quarter by having an onsite kickoff in Atlanta. We fly our remote team in for a couple of days of business meetings where we retro the previous quarter and chat through each department’s goals and projects for the new quarter. Additionally, we always plan fun events for our team to enjoy outside work so we can continue to build our relationships with each other regardless of location or team. We’ve gone to Braves games, the bowling alley, Top Golf, Puttshack, and other local Atlanta favorites! Additionally, at the end of each year, Sonar has a Holiday Party where we encourage all employees to join us for a sit-down, family-style dinner. We fly our employees in for the party and offer everyone a +1 to the event. It is important to Sonar to not only recognize, honor, and celebrate our employees but also to provide that same recognition and gratitude to those who surround our employees on a day-to-day basis. It's always a great night meeting everyone's friends and family and coming together to reflect on the previous year of work.”
